Billing

The first 90 days of handing your billing office to someone else

Handing your billing office to someone else is not one decision, it is a first ninety days.

Weeks one and two are setup: customers and properties imported, services and pricing formulas written down and approved by you, routes built, the assistant taught your services, your prices and your area.

Weeks three to six are the awkward ones. The calls are being answered, but the edge cases arrive — the customer who always asks for the same crew, the street you will not service, the price you always bend. Every one becomes a rule.

By weeks seven to twelve it goes quiet, and that is the point. The phone rings and you do not hear about it. Tomorrow is routed before you wake up. Invoices go out without a conversation.

The measure worth watching is not how many calls came in. It is how many evenings you got back, and whether anything broke while you were not looking.
