What an office manager actually costs a landscaping company

The office manager in a landscaping company is usually the most expensive person in it, and the cost is not the salary.

The salary is visible. What is not visible is the cover: when they are away, the work returns to you, and by then you have forgotten how any of it is done.

There is also the concentration risk. One person holds the pricing, the schedule, the customer history and the billing. When they leave — and they do — the business staggers for months.

Systems do not walk out. Documented pricing formulas, a schedule that anybody can rebuild, and billing that runs itself are worth more than any individual's knowledge of "how we do it".

That is what handing the office out buys you that a hire cannot: the work gets done and the way it is done stays written down.
