Should a website and SEO company hire a receptionist?

Every growing website and SEO company reaches the point where hiring someone for the office looks unavoidable. It is worth doing the maths before you do the hiring.

A part-time person who can answer well, quote and schedule is not minimum wage work. With payroll taxes and the hours you will spend training and correcting, most owners find it costs several thousand a month before it is any good.

And you get one person's hours. They are not there at 7pm, not there Saturday, not there when they are ill, and not there during the season when the phone rings hardest.

They also take a season to be useful. Until they know your prices, your area and which leads you refuse to do, every unusual call ends up back with you anyway.

The honest comparison is not receptionist versus nothing. It is one person's weekday hours versus a service that answers every hour, books straight into the route, and costs a fraction of the salary.
